Metallic nails with Milv

Rarely do I take the pains to edit more than one pic of a mani these days. I am just trying to cut down a bit of the boring work which in turn puts me off completely from making any post at all. But this one I couldn't resist! This milv decal is just gorgeous! Now I wish I had selected more of metallic decals from them.

Base: Knocked Up nails Fierce, Fabulous Female
Accent: Milv decal F-79 (in silver)

They are an absolute breeze to use. Super Easy.
Just dip in water, peel of the back, place them and file them form the free edge.
I thought they would wrinkle up or shrink once I apply top coat, but to my surprise they did not at all.
They are also an easy peasy way to spruce up your mani in a jiffy. It took me literally 5 mins to put the decals on 3 nails. The best part is that a clean up brush dipped in acetone just cuts right through these decals and melts them away very neatly. So no jagged edges or corners popping up at all.

Its quite simple almost like putting a sticker but the end result is much more pretty.
They are reasonable for around $2. I could get one use from one sheet for both hands.

Vinyls and Nails

Another one.
In love with Dance Legend polishes! They are super awesome..the holo flakie is awesome, they dry super fast. Its just difficult to get hands on them directly from russia. I managed to get quite some needless to say the effort was worth it. hehe.

Base: Dance Legend Behind the scenes
Gold polish: Barry m gold foil
Vinyls: Thorn stencils from Whats up Nails

Starry gradient nail art

Gradient nails are super easy and fun and I keep making mental notes of the different combinations I want to try. One of them is this metallic gradient going from champagne gold to bronze-y brown.

Base: miss claire champagne gold (it actually has no shade name, just a number), Maybelline bold gold, Lakme metallics 241 and chg chiaroscuro.
Stamped with Konad black using Pueen 44.
Topped with Girl HK tc.

The below pic is before clean up but I just wanted to capture the base gradient. It would work really well for parties as well as normal day to day base coz it's not too blingy.

See ya soon with another mani.

Stamping decals nail art: Advance stamping technique

I tried. It's been on my list for sooooo long to make stamping decals but the whole idea seems to be just quite long.

Here's my trial:

I m not too happy with this. It turned out crinkled and didn't seem to stick well. Yeah my nails kinda dried by the time I reached my ring finger. So I have a few edges poking out despite TC.

But on the positive I think the combo was nice. Don't you?

Have you tried decals? If so would you know why mine crinkled? Tell me.

Happy Valentines Day

Wishing all my readers a very happy valentines day!!! Hope you have a super day filled with love and special moments.

Here's the mani I actually have on me today. I just wanted to put something simple .. Ok I admit I just wanted to paint my nails than go bare nails :p

Base: Faces Savita Matte (yeah u read right)
Now I like that this brand is really launching products and trying to catch up with global nail trends however they could be a bit creative with the shade names. Not only the nail polishes but quite a few of their lip sticks and other items are also named after other iconic shades from other brands. I have swatches of their green matte shade earlier.. It's called Veruschka. :D

Ok now coming back to this shade. It's a nice purple. With red shimmers. Dries matt as the name suggests. However the first coat was really streaky and patchy. Had to apply a thicker second coat to smooth it properly. The brush on this was horrible. Had strands poking out. But I do like the end result. A dark royal purple.

Sponged a bit of sandy gold on the tips and free handed a tiny heart with pink polish. Cute but not over the top.

Ok. Heading out for my dinner date.

What did u do today?

Simple Mani : Glitter topper

Couple of days back I attended the first ever Nailathon organised in Mumbai. It was good fun, got to meet up a couple if other bloggers. Irony of life is I couldn't manage to do any sort of nail art to a nailathon so I went with bare nails. However to get sadness of that I promptly came back and did something on my nails.

Jessica was one if the sponsors and gave us a mini nail polish bottle on entering the place. I got this purple shade but there was no name or number on it.
Topped it with a glitter topper found at a local store for rs.60/-. (Beat that!) It has matte mint green and white hexes with sparse white bars.

(Pic before clean up. Pls ignore the flooded cuticles.. I was afraid I'd mess up so I hurriedly took pics)

Overall a fun day we had!

Belated Summer Stripes

Now this is a mani I had done before the smell of polish got to me. Hence the title. It was summer then you see.

Base is a hot pink miss Claire polish. No shade name.

I had tried to make random sized stripes in random order but somehow the final effect was not something I had wanted. Probably not a good combi or my freehand sucks or both.

Ok now I go try something else. Ta-da

A break and some news!!

Hiiieee,

Sometimes a break does you good. Sometimes a break makes you realise how much do you actually miss something! And sometimes it can make you realise that some things might not be as important as you thought. And something needs priority over others.
Yeah... what can I say. My blog and nail art is important to me and I missed it like crazy!
So why the break u ask? Well ... The news is I am a mommy!!!!!!
My cute little bundle was born on 13th of June and is almost a month old now. And he has cutesy lil nails himself. 😊

During pregnancy the smell of polish made me mad and drove me nauseous. I tried to paint my nails a few times but my mind was just not into it. Saddened me quite a bit I tell ya!
I tried again today and I didn't gag!!!! However let me warn you I have nubbins like nubbins I've never had before. Ahh the price we pay for love! But I m happy that I have polish on my nails after 6-7 months and I cudnt care anymore abt my cuticles or the shape or size of my nails. (For now that is).

On my nails today is BK holo no.5. A dark red holo with strong holo effect.

On its own it looked more like fuchsia on me. I have applied 2 thin coats. But maybe next time I'll use a red base.

Next pic is in natural light. But on a really dull rainy day so the holo isn't flashing

Though the baby does seem to take considerable time and attention I shall be posting as and when possible.

Yay! M a mommy! I know it's tiring and all that but frankly being a mummy isn't as stressful and scary as I imagined it would be. Also I am staying with my mom a couple of months to help me out with the baby so I am really grateful for everything she does. Moms r d best!! ❤❤❤

A hearty thanks to you all for still sticking with my blog. A lot of readers were concerned and messaged me directly to ask about my whereabouts. Thank you!
Also I did read that GFC is out so please follow me on bloglovin.

See ya soon!

but lotsa things going on. Missed u guys!

Base: ChG Velvet Bow
Sally Hansen: Strobe light
Revlon: Sunshine sparkle

The base is lovely dark creme polish. Smooth in 2 coats. Topped with SV.
I was going for a gradient effect with the glitter, but eh!!?

Some pics of the place:

Some samples of nail art done by their experienced technicians:

My experience at the spa was truly nice. I can be a bit finicky about hygiene in such places and I was pleased to see that all technicians and staff wore face masks, the instruments were clean and well maintained. The place was spick and span. I opted to do some nail art on my hands coz it feels really good to have someone do your nails :D (ahhhh..bliss!!)

Since the festive season is about to begin in India with the advent of Navratri (festival of 9 days of dance), followed by Durga puja and Diwali (Hindu New year), I thought it was befitting the season to have some bling on my nails. The technicians and staff suggested french glitter nails with some 3-D accent and I agreed to that. Must say I am pretty pleased with the result.

My nails were first prepped with a bit of cuticle pushing and filing. Then my hands were sanitized and cleaned before SoSo (the technician who did my nails) proceeded with the base coat. Artfully she applied loose small hex glitter in gold. She had a strict eye for detail and finish.

After glitter was applied, she proceeded to do the accent nail on my ring finger with 3-D. I was a bit apprehensive of using acrylic on my nails but she patiently answered my questions and cleared my doubts about using it and its effects on my nails. Using acrylic powder she made and moulded the flower and leaves on my nails itself. Lastly she put a tiny crystal in the centre to complete the look. This nail art would have been priced at Rs.1200/- (as per the salon)

I love love love the whole effect. Glittery and oh-so-cute!!

I leave you to drool over some pics of the manicure.

I couldnt stop staring at this pretty accent nail!

Also if you'd like to visit the place: NailSpa Experience has some attractive offers going on for the festive season:

VioletBag Haul!

I realized that I have been hauling stuff left right and center but not done any haul posts!!
Ermmm maybe coz I dont want to feel too much guilt?? :D

So here's just a peek at my most recent haul:

I couple of year's ago I was feeling extremely frustrated that we werent getting konad stuff in India. I still fret over OPI and ChG not releasing their latest collections here but instead sending stuff from 2010 to India! But there is some respite atleast in terms of overall availability of things related to nail art. Thankfully now most of Konad stuff is quite easily available here.

VioletBag is one of the online shops in India to stock Konad and loads of other nail art related stuff. The offer COD (cash on delivery) and you can also earn reward points everytime you purchase from them..so after the third purchase you can start redeeming points.

Of course they also have a nice collection of other stuff including make up, bags, accessories, perfumes et all. But I couldnt look past the nail section!!

Here's what I hauled:

I was impressed with their service. For a long time I wanted to check out the Konad double sided stamper. Its easy to pick up small designs like a single flower without picking up any other design on the stamping plate. However after I placed my order, the next day a customer service exec called me up saying that item was not in stock. Eeeeekks!
So I told them I dont mind waiting if they could procure it for me.  And they DiD!!! I received my order in 5 days. Well packed, with polishes wrapped separately in bubble wrap.

Who can resist Hello Kitty stickers..right? ^_^
If u want some here's the link. Click here

My double side stamper set!

Colorbar Neons and Konad stamping polishes. I couldnt see Colorbar's latest neon collection online in other sites. Only Violetbag had them.

Konad M85 image plate for stamping nail art

Cant wait to try these things!!!!

What have you hauled lately?

(pssst: my other hauls : I also got cheeky plates, Bundle Monster 3 plates, loads of BK holos, a few ChGs, a turkish holo glitter nail polish :Gold Rose brand, maybelline eye color tattoos, loads of clothes)Now I need a black glitter polish. Need to catch hold of someone coming back to India from US. Anybody reading this?) :D

(P.S.: I was provided a coupon to review the site, but opinions are my own and based on my experience)
