Indian Brocade Nail Art

Recently a few plates have caught my eye again after a dull lull in the nail art world. One of them was this Nicole Diary L-03 from the born pretty store. The main draw is layered stamping or over print as they call it. I love stamping the most and the idea of getting a few colours to go in together and come out like a print is exciting to see. You can find this plate on the born pretty store here (link) and it retails for $2.99 after discount. You can also search for it by item no. 46228.

Base: Nugel Candy Apple
Stamping Plate: Nicole Diary L03 (#46228)
Stamping Polish: M-Polish

I tried to recreate a design like that seen on silk Indian brocade print. Usually such brocade sarees are worn during wedding seasons. They look really beautiful.

Base used is from Nugel called Candy Apple. Slightly sheer even after 2 coats as you can see the nail line yet. The formula was like jelly but not as sheer. I guess another coat would have covered it full. Dried to touch in 10 mins. And took another 10 mins to get fully dried. The formula is self levelling and easy to apply. So far most of the polishes I've tried have a nice formula.

Flying Kites! Festive indian nail art

Today is kite flying festival in India and I do love my kites. However things are bit different this time... Didn't get to enjoy it as much as it was a weekday and most friends were busy working. I did steal a few minutes off my full time mom schedule to fly some kites over the weekend.
Yeah I know I have been missing past couple of months but who knew having a toddler makes life so busy??!!! I did manage to do a few manis here and there so will try and post them all together soon in a single post.
Meanwhile hope u enjoy looking at these. It's one of my rare freehand art.

Striping tape nail art and two more!

Wanted to try out striping nails since a long time. And had some new polishes to try as well. Plus gradients always look so good. And the result is this:

Base: maybelline color show constant candy: a nice baby pink with mild shimmers but was streaky.
Added some striping tape in random manner.
Sponged: Faces sand coat in oatmeal raisin.

I love how this turned out.. Quite interesting and did grab a few eyeballs with random strangers asking me if those were some new kind of nail stickers or stick on nails. Hehe!

Meanwhile a niece-nephew twin duo had come to stay over a couple of days. While the nephew was happy watching oggy and the cockroaches (yikes!! Yes that's what cartoons are called these days) the niece was bored so I did my usual stuff on her too. See.

Cute nails right?

And meanwhile a friend was getting married and I offered to do her nails too.
I wanted to do a very intricate kind of design.. But after I saw her hands full of the traditional Indian henna (Mehndi) I decided to keep it bold but simple.

 Whew! Long post I know.
See ya soon.

Holi Nail Art: Neon Grunge Nail Art

Happy Holi!!

Holi is a color filled Indian festival where people put colored powder dry or mixed in water on each other and drench them in water. So the end effect is people so colourful that they are barely recognised. Also it has a mythical story of good winning over evil as most Indian festivals have.

I am just using this day as an excuse to paint my nails WILD!!

I first saw this grunge nail technique on Chalkboard Nail by Sarah. And I was smitten by the effect on her nails.

It hasn't come out so well in the pics I think but it's an eye catcher in real.

Base: an unbranded white polish
For the grunge effect I used: color bar neons and a black nail art polish with a stripper brush.

For the accent I stamped colorbar neons using BM 416 stamping in different directions for each polish. And topped it using a black white glitter topper.

Here's the mani before the topper.

Happy Holi! Play safe!
And Save Water!

Majestic Baroque Print Nail Art

One of my recent favorite combos this is!!

its an unbranded duo-chrome polish I found on one of my trips.
Shimmery metallic kinda finish. Layered over black.

Stamping Colour Gosh Metallic Purple. Stamps like a dream.
Stamping Plate BM 314
You know I really cant get enough of these baroque/victorian design stamping plates.
I wish someone made more of these with delicate/bold and all sorts of prints.

Doesnt the base colour look gorgeous in this pic with pink/red sparkle?

Black White and Glitter Nails

Whats not to like?
Classic Black and White? Check!
Glitter? Check!
Nail Art? Check!

I neeeeeed more Glitter polishes!! More More More!!

Base: Colorbar Exclusive 37 (white)
Glitter on accent: WnW Party of Five
Stamping Plate: Konad M85 from my Violetbag Haul.
I like this design from Konad..abstract and it allows to show the base too..plus non flowery.
I just think we dont need any more flowery nail plate designs..there are waaaay too much of those.

This is accent looked sooo pretty in real! It looks like the top coat smeared a bit in this macro..but I couldnt really see that in real.

Have a good start to this week!!!

Diwali Nail Art: Wish you all A very Happy Diwali!!

Hi Folks,

I'd like to wish you all a very Happy Diwali and a prosperous New Year!!

Tuesday is going to be Diwali (the festival of lights) for us in India. it is one of the most widely celebrated festivals across all of India and Indians across the world. The day following that is the hindu new year!

One this occasion I wanted to a mani bling enough to be festive ...yet have the traditional indian colourful look.

Base: Inglot's Nail Enamel # 924
Its a cherry red jelly. Thats 2 coats on my nails with VNL (visible nail line).

I layered Inglot's # 203 flakies over it. Its a green- blurple duo-chromy flakey.
Thats also 2 coats of flaky as I wanted loads of shine. You can see the violet tinge of flaky on the upper side of the nails..changing to bright green as it progresses down.

Stamping plate: XL C
Stamping Color: Konad White
(these pics have no top coat as TC would have made it really difficult to catch the flakey in sunlight).

HAPPY DIWALI to YOU!!!!

Colourful Festive Mani: Lotus herbals:Plum Delight

Tis the festive season here in India! and I got festive manis!

First up is the Navratri (9 nights): where for 9 days people worship a deity and there is song and traditional garba dance in evenings. Also the Durga festival is widely celebrated around the same time for 6 days with a lot of fanfare.

Thats a ground where traditional garba dance happens. it draws huge crowds!!
People adorn traditional ULTRA colourful costumes for the dance.
I was in a colorful mood following the neon tiger print mani last week and hadnt had enough yet.

While my friend Nirah again recommended Plum delight from Lotus. Lovely polish! (thanks Ni!)
Smooth buttery application.. 2 coats opaque. Decent brush, No streaks! No bubbles! Dried in 5-8 mins.

Gorgeous smoky violet! *me thinks is a great dupe for Zoya Pinta.. see here
Lotus herbals Nail polishes are Acetone, DBP and Toluene free.
8ml bottle, costs Rs.110/-

Slathered some Inglot 204 blue-purple flakies on it. Turns it magical, doesnt it?

Stamped with XL C using Konad Pastel pink (yeah.. messed up on one finger)
But I had another plan for the mess.. to hide it :Dk

Added dots using a dotting tool with 3-4 polishes to make it bright

Ta-daaaa! M all set for GARBAAAA!!!

This is a bollywood song on the traditional garba dance..

Brocade Nail Art

Hello Gals!!
(wondering if I do have any male followers except my hubby and bro who I forced to follow my blog?)

Today I have a really pretty mani to show ya!

The base is ChG Magnetix: Positively in Love

I was trying to magnetize it but I ended up touching the magnet into my nails for some reason on almost every nail!!! Ughh! so I thot maybe i'd try that when I have short nails. So I added another base on the half magnetized base so smoothen out the magnetic effect.  I love the jewel toned shade of the base.

Stamping Plate: RA 112
Stamping Colour: Streetwear Gold
I added some bindi stickers for more glam

I think there arent enough plates which have a brocade or baroque designs. I wish I had more choice in these kinds of designs, u know the designs with creeper, leaves etc which allow enough of the base to show through. This also looks very indian to me and is quite apt for weddings/functions.

I loved how this design turned out ♥♥♥
Hope u ♥ this too?

Independence Day Nail Art: Indian

Its India's 65th Independence day today!!
So I did one apt for the day:
Yes the tri-colour flag with the blue chakra (wheel)

Base:
Pointer: Faux OPI (similar to OPI Atomic Orange)
Colorbar: white
Green:Sinful color Envy

I cut corner on all the nails with the adjacent nail shade so as to get an effect of a waving flag.
I freehanded the chakra in acrylic blue colour with a brush.

Topped wit SV.
I really loved the final outcome...didnt plan it out this way..but yeah it turned out very nice.

Happy Independence day!!

How do you like this mani?

Paisley Print: Indian Nail Art

Yaaay!
This is my 100th Post!!!!
And I have  lovely mani to show ya!

Base: China Glaze Lemon Fizz
Topped with: Inglot Flakie XL7
I love love love how this looks!!

Inglot XL 7 in the bottle

Stamping Plate: BM 315
Stamping Colours: Konad Purple, red, Black, Blue and Dark Blue.

Actually I had stamped the thumb with pink, but it was too pale so I stamped over it with dark blue which makes it look 3-D. Ahhh! I am soo proud of my stamping skillz today. I stamped it exactly over pink :D

Yay! for 100th post again!! Yay! Yay! Yay!
