Neon Summer

No I haven't abandoned my blog. But somehow a start of the new year always seems to bring other things into focus and my nails take a back seat. So this year my focus is on fitness, skin and hair among other things. I haven't been doing much nails but I did do a few manis which I hope to put up soon. And I also hope to get back to doing my nails regularly too.
Hope.

So summer is here full on and its already crazy hot here and its just April. I am going crazy thinking how hot it is going to get in May. I did a bright in ur face neon mani to match the hot weather.

Base: Orly Gumdrop on pointer and little finger (beach cruiser used over it with striping tape)
Middle fingers: Orly Beach Cruiser over Glowstick

I couldnt get the shade of beach cruiser properly. Made my camera go all wonky. I even tried to colour correct and edit but didnt manage to catch it properly.

I love how summery and bright this looks.

Holo Leopard Print

Another easy to do nail art. only dotting tools required.

BK holo polish. Strangely the gold polish turned slightly pink to a champagne shade in sun light.

Everytime I apply holo polish, I cant stop staring at my nails.
 Like it?

In the mood for some polish! ChG Velvet Bow

Hi Ya, Long time no mani! But today I mani-ed!!! Sorry for being AWOL!
but lotsa things going on. Missed u guys!

Base: ChG Velvet Bow
Sally Hansen: Strobe light
Revlon: Sunshine sparkle

The base is lovely dark creme polish. Smooth in 2 coats. Topped with SV.
I was going for a gradient effect with the glitter, but eh!!?
Accent is dotted with Revlon sunshine sparkle, not one of my favourites. Its tacky, streaky and takes ages to dry.

Well, here's hoping to catch you again soon!

L'oreal Color Rich Le Nail Art Stickers: Review

Hellooo!! Good morning or afternoon!
Long time no see. I finally managed to open the locked polish cabinet and as luck would have had it, my internet service was conked off for a few days. Life is seriously difficult without internet!!

Today I have on review, L'oreal Paris' Color Riche Le Nail Art Stickers.
L'oreal has recently released these 3-D nail art stickers here in India.
Here's a small snipet from their PR on these:
"Need a manicure but don’t have time to wait for the polish to dry? Get ready to get FashioNAILable with L’Oreal Paris Le Nail Art stickers.

Inspired from luxury fabrics, these stickers are easy to use and can stay on for upto10 days.  We have three timeless collections that create ultimate nail wardrobe ranges:

Couture- Nail stickers that are inspired from the latest catwalk trends

L’Or- The timeless black and gold nail art stickers can add a vintage feel to your look

Diamantisse - Diamonds are a girl’s best friend! These stickers aren’t just stickers, they are nail diamonds!

What makes these nail stickers so unique?

The Nail Stickers are easy to apply. You just have to select a sticker that fits your nail, apply the sticker on your nail, fold the remaining over your nail tip and file off the remaining.

What makes these stickers different from the others?

1.       Zero Application Mistakes: Since the stickers are easy to apply, chances of any mistake is nil

2.       Zero Dry Time: Since these are stickers, you do not have to wait for it to dry! It saves you of all the misery of waiting for your nail colour to dry. Isn’t that a blessing?

3.       Doesn’t require a nail colour remover: When you feel like changing your sticker, all you have to do is, peel it off. It’s that simple!

4.       Zero Nail Damage: Worried if these stickers will damage your nails? Here’s the good news. The stickers are safe to use and will not damage your nails.

The nail stickers not only glam up your look but also give your personality a whole new definition. Truly, nails are your style canvas! It’s time to get FashioNAILable, instantly!

Give your nails a luxurious makeover. Treat them with sophistication with Le Nail Art Stickers. Match your mood and your outfit with these fun nail stickers. All it takes is few minutes of your time."

I loved the black and gold ones the most. These stickers are textured, hence the 3-D claim. Designs are nice and very wearable. you can check other designs here: Loreal's facebook Page

These Stickers cost: Rs 299/- for a single pack for 18 stickers. Adjusting for various sizes and fits of a person's nails, you'd get one wear out of these. They are sturdy material and wont tear when you remove or apply them.
However I find the pricing a bit steep for one manicure. But yeah considering if you are someone who goes to nail spa's for ur manis, this is a cheaper option.
I have a small pic demo if you are keen to try them: coz I found it a bit tricky to apply them cleanly.

1) remove the sticker from the package. Peel by holding the end of the sticker that will go on your tips. So incase you get a crease or fold, that end is extra long and will be cut off.

2) First place the tip of the sticker carefully over the base of your nails, aligning the sides in a straight line. See pic below.

 3) now as shown press the sticker in sequence as shown, slightly tugging at the sides/ends to make sure there are no creases and folds in the centre and sides.

4) You can cut off the excess with a scissor or file it down as shown on the package. just be gentle when filing and do it in one direction from top to down. and you're DONE!!
Ta-daaaa!
I managed to place most stickers nicely except the pointer finger which got a bit creased at the tip and side.

Overall they r a bit pricey and tricky to apply. While id o like the textured feel, they didnt last me long. One shower and I had the ends starting to loosen up. I'd recommend these if you dont have the time to do a fancy mani and are really keen to spice up your nails for an evening.

Till I see you next! xx

Some pics of the place:

Some samples of nail art done by their experienced technicians:

My experience at the spa was truly nice. I can be a bit finicky about hygiene in such places and I was pleased to see that all technicians and staff wore face masks, the instruments were clean and well maintained. The place was spick and span. I opted to do some nail art on my hands coz it feels really good to have someone do your nails :D (ahhhh..bliss!!)

Since the festive season is about to begin in India with the advent of Navratri (festival of 9 days of dance), followed by Durga puja and Diwali (Hindu New year), I thought it was befitting the season to have some bling on my nails. The technicians and staff suggested french glitter nails with some 3-D accent and I agreed to that. Must say I am pretty pleased with the result.

My nails were first prepped with a bit of cuticle pushing and filing. Then my hands were sanitized and cleaned before SoSo (the technician who did my nails) proceeded with the base coat. Artfully she applied loose small hex glitter in gold. She had a strict eye for detail and finish.

After glitter was applied, she proceeded to do the accent nail on my ring finger with 3-D. I was a bit apprehensive of using acrylic on my nails but she patiently answered my questions and cleared my doubts about using it and its effects on my nails. Using acrylic powder she made and moulded the flower and leaves on my nails itself. Lastly she put a tiny crystal in the centre to complete the look. This nail art would have been priced at Rs.1200/- (as per the salon)

I love love love the whole effect. Glittery and oh-so-cute!!

I leave you to drool over some pics of the manicure.

I couldnt stop staring at this pretty accent nail!

Leopard Print Nail Art

There was a time when I used to not like animal print and now I keep stopping at every place I see one. I even got a couple of tops in leopard print :D
So naturally a leopard print mani was calling me

Base: Viviana's Outrageous Sky
Its a nice bright blue in creme finish, dried very quick unlike the Viviana's yellow.
Slightly streaky but goes completely opaque in 2 coats. I really loved this polish.
If you are looking for a bit o' splash of colour check this polish.

Added the light blue dots with a dotting tool using China Glaze's For Audrey
Then I added Black dots around it randomly using Colorama's Black.
For the accent finger I added pink dots and glitter on it using Sally Hansen's Strobe Light

Do you like animal prints?

Lacey Sticker Nail Art

Lately I have been really hung up on lacey dresses and tops so when I came across this lacey sticker I grabbed it up asap. Mind you not just this one..there are more where this came from :D

The base is a Miss Claire Polish (made in Korea). There is no shade name but just a no. A13.

I loved the finish of this polish..Very Foil like but shimmered a lot in light. Almost like the foil was broken in tiny pieces. Anyone know this finish is called exactly?

Miss Claire markets this as a one stroke polish but it took me 2 coats to make opaque.

Last weekend I had gone on an offsite visit from my office. It is supposed to be like a semi work thing where we get to have fun while we also have to sit through a couple of presentations. This year was a really short trip to a resort nearby. We went to Radisson Blu at Alibaug, just a couple of hours away. Nice resort, but the food wasnt that great. I had good fun overall.

I wore this mani for the trip as I was really short of time the night before leaving.
Applied the stickers and topped with SV.

What kinda manis do you do when you are short of time?
