Glittering flowers: KBShimmer Get Clover it

Here's a polish I was completely smitten with. I had to yes... "Had to" have it. So when My friend Dhara placed a group order on Harlow that was I could ask for. KBShimmer's Get Clover It. So I could get over it.. Get it?

I left it alone for a couple of days by which I had enough people asking me if they can borrow it to apply on their nails. It dances in the light like a glittering green forest filled with jade stones and gold nuggets. No kidding!! So on the third day I had cover some of the goodness.

I stamped it using Fun IV and maybelline colorshow Bold Gold.

My First Franken Polish: Jelly Green Monster!!

Now if you are wondering what Franken Polish is..It means creating your own polish by mixing existing polish, glitters and pigments. Like creating your own Frankenstein monster..Hence the name Franken Polish.

Now some ladies have got very enterprising with this concept and have started their own polish shops. These are known as indie polish makers. This concept is not so popular in India here..but is quite a rage in US and Europe. You must see some of their creations to figure why they are so much in demand and always sought after... yeah go google....Hey.. atleast finish reading my post!!

I was getting very saddened by the fact that these indie/frankens polishes were not available easy here so I decided to make my own. And Presenting....Kejal's Jelly Green Monster!!

Whats a Jelly you ask? Jelly polishes are polishes like creme..but much more shinier and glistening.

I emptied and cleaned out an old polish mini bottle. Half filled it with clear polish or a regular top coat.

Added a few drops of Lakme's Going Green and one drop of black polish.

Added a couple of brush fulls of Jordana's Cosmic Glitter polish.

Lastly I had one of these unbranded bottles of glitter polish..you know the cheap ones available at your local stationery/cosmetic stores around the corner. This one had large chunky and medium hex light gold glitter (See here). Add a couple of brush fulls of that.

And shake/dance.

This was much more glistening in real. So much that I had a little trouble picking pics where it didnt reflect the sky and clouds. If you look closely you can see small green and blue glitter of Jordana Cosmic.

Now if you wanna start making your own frankens you need non-bleeding glitter. i.e glitter that wont loose its colour in polish. and if possible a suspension base that will help the glitter stay afloat in the polish else it will sink like mine did and you'll find yourself dancing around with the polish bottle in your hand :D

I loved making this franken and have already got hold of a few bottles of polish just to empty them out to make my own frankens. Very addictive I say. Have you made your own??

Ahhh my Muse!!

I just couldnt get over the (meh) mani from yesterday.

Gave me sleepless night! :D

So here I am today with something much better.

The base is Revlon's Muse!

Adorable shade isnt it?

Smooth creme, perfect opaque in 2 coats, not streaky either. Pale Olive greeeeen!

I am totally loving these new range of polishes from Revlon!!! and mind you I am not a fan of green, but this one is SUPER!

I got another couple more to show you too..but another day.

Inglot 320: Green Dot-ticure

Whassup! I am pretty bored these days..need to plan a trip or do something exciting.

Do you wanna see any tutorials on my blog? Is there anything that you would like to see more?

I need some new ideas, or maybe I just need new polishes and plates :D

Coming back to my mani for today.

I have a new polish. Its Inglot's 320. Its a  little sheer pearly kind of finish.

This is 2 coats and I still have VNL (visible nail line)

Its a nice shade, but somehow I am not drawn to it.

Base: Inglot 320

Stamping Polish: Konad Purple

Stamping Plate: BM 209

Dots: Lakme gold and Streetwear Fuschia Pink

Topped wit SV

Would you suggest any other combo with this kinda green?

I had a hard time coming up with this. and I didnt wanna do the obvious black.

Independence Day Nail Art: Indian

Its India's 65th Independence day today!!

So I did one apt for the day:

Yes the tri-colour flag with the blue chakra (wheel)

Base:

Pointer: Faux OPI (similar to OPI Atomic Orange)

Colorbar: white

Green:Sinful color Envy

I cut corner on all the nails with the adjacent nail shade so as to get an effect of a waving flag.

I freehanded the chakra in acrylic blue colour with a brush.

Topped wit SV.

I really loved the final outcome...didnt plan it out this way..but yeah it turned out very nice.

Floam Swatch +Nail Art

You know how you really "really" want something in your life and sometimes you get it easy and sometimes you get it the hard way. But the hard somethings are to get, the sweeter the victory.

Yes, Floam was one such polish. I usually dont get so senti-"mental" about not having a polish, but since the first time I had seen swatches of this polish, I was like I have to "have" it. :D

One day my friend and an avid blog stalker Dhara asked me if I wanted anything from US as she had contacted Melissa a nail blogger at The Daily Nail Blog (do visit her blog, she is fab at nail art). Melissa works in India but was planning to go on a short visit back home to US. And she generously agreed to get us our fix of polishes. Though I tried to buy this polish from a webshop, it seemed quite unavailable at the moment. I then contacted the maker this awesome polish Amy from "I'm feeling Nail-venturous" (do check out her blog, she has loads of such fab polishes) and she happily agreed to make me some so Melissa could get them home to us. Thank you Amy and Melissa!!!

Postal delivery usually takes ages in my country with most of the times ending up in lost/stolen packages. Enough Rant. Had to get it out of my system. 

So presenting: Floam

Floam is neon yellow, blue and green hex matt glitter in a clear base.

Its a little thick to apply but doesnt clump together. Above pic is coats of polish over a base of colorbar exclusive 18.

Dance of Floam in the bottle.

It gives an incredible depth to your nails, almost 3-D.

Lakmé Going Green + Sponging Nail Art

Summer is in full swing and how I soooo wish I could enjoy 2 months of summer holidays like we used to as school kids. Sigghhh! And eating mangoes of all kind..which I still do.

Yellow, Orange, Golden, Green..yummmm! This polish reminds me of green tangy mangoes.

As excited as I am to review Lakmé polishes, I was impressed by their new range.

While I like these nail polishes, I wished they had more variety in colours and finishes.

But for now I am happy playing with their Fast and Fabulous range. 

I've already review them here once. 

Today I have swatched "Going Green"* from Lakmé's Fast & Fabulous range.  Rs.199/- ($4)

Below is Going Green swatched alone.

Two coats opaque, nice creme finish. Dries fast and smooth.

Its a lively bright green..reminds me of Sinful Colors Envy. If you see that post, they are pretty similar.

I sponged Colorama Black using Nailasaurus' Fantastic Sponging technique. If you are having trouble sponging or wanna learn sponging..check her post. Simple. Pretty. Effective.

 With quick drying Top coat (below).. though I liked how they looked matt after sponging.

Sponged some local big hex gold glitter polish (unbranded) on the tips

Hmm...maybe I liked it without the glitter? U?

But nonetheless I had a fun time sponging.

Glitter glitter everywhere!

Thats it!! I've jumped into the glitter bandwagon.

Ever since glitter polishes started appearing on blogs I've been drooling over them.

But then I also read that they were a pain to take out, which stopped me from trying them.

Also as I was packing for my rafting trip, I realised I wouldnt get time to polish my nails on the trip and I didnt wanna lug weight with me as I knew we'd have to carry our bags to the camp at the riverside.

So I had to put on a mani that wud last me atleast 5-6 days. This is my "eureka".

 Lasted me all of 6 days of which 4 days were spent rafting atleast 2-3 hours each day. 

Base: Colorbar exclusive 18

Icing:  Epic Winning

WetnWild: Party of five

 

I had won the glitters from Canadian Nail Fanatic in her giveaway last year

I have applied the Icing glitter halfway down the nail and WnW Party of Five 1/3 rd way to the tip as I attempted a possible gradient effect.

Party of Five is a good dupe for Deborah Lippmann's gorgeous Happy Birthday.

Verdict: I would strongly recommend glitters to anyone who doesnt like to change their polishes often or to those who wanna save some bag space on a trip.

Green With Envy

Hola Chickas! 

Envy!! Hmm..thats something we all feel from time to time. Envy of full blown solitaire on your neighbors finger, a new polish that your favorite blogger gets her hands on; of a job promotion you thought you deserved. (Ahem..Well that would be screaming mad!!)

Today I am showing you a polish from Sinful colors: Envy.

This one if from my Canadian Haul and the first Sinful color np that I've have.

Its a bright warm green, and I was looking forward to try this particular shade even though green is not a color I am fond of. It applies smooth, has a nice bright undertone. 

The problem with this green was I could not find find any stamping colour that would show up on this.

I tried white, silver but they didn't work well. So then I layered this with a shimmering green polish (green gold shimmer in transparent jelly base) and the color turned to a brilliant shimmering green. Although it was not as bright as what the pic shows below, but I had to photograph it using flash as my camera refused to pick up the subtle hint of shimmer. 

Finally stamped it using M78 (fauxnad)  with Konad's special black.
