Nugel Nail Polish Swatch Traffic Blue

Today I have a swatch of Nugel Traffic blue

Nugel is a recently launched brand in India. Polishes retail for Rs.99-120/-.
Traffic blue is a very vibrant shade. Shown here is 3 thin coats. The polish applies smoothly and dries quite fast. It lasted on me for 4 days but then again it depends on your own chemistry.

I have used a few other shades from this brand and overall they are quite nice. I have seen some of their matt shades online too and they look pretty too. Might try those sometime. All in all its a good brand of polish and worth the doh. Lemme know if you try it.

Born Pretty Store Holo Polish Blue Love

Hello! September is almost coming to an end. The year is just flying by. really!
Today I have a cute little polish from Born Pretty Store to show you.
BPS has really come out with very awesome range of holo polishes.
On review here today is a blue holo polish called Blue Love (BP RR-07 #42846; link) from their Rose road series in Deluxe holographic range of polish.

In sunlight
in artificial light
I loved how holo the polish is, its not a very linear holo nor is it too scattered. The blue shade is also very flattering on my skin tone. The polish in this range come in 10 cute shades and I had a hard time picking one. Bottle size is 6 ml for $7. I find it's a bit pricey for this size but the quality is good. One thick coat is sufficiently opaque. But I've used 2 coats in my pics above out of habit. The polish dried fairly quickly in 5 mins. Overall I quite like this polish and considering that I don't get any real holo polish locally I am very pleased that BPS has got good holo polishes now. My packaged reached me in 15 days after shipping.

Polish sent for review. It is my honest, unbiased opinion.

Knocked Up nails : Coral Cutie swatch

Recently when just aimlessly surfing about I came across this brand of nail polish that is safe for use during pregnancy. I was quite intrigued since I had refrained from using polish during pregnancy. So I wrote to them and they sent me a bunch for review.
Knocked Up Nails (link) is 5-free maternity safe nail polish formula does not contain toluene, formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, dibutyl phthalate (dbp) or camphor. It also does not contain triphenyl phosphate (tphp). They are long-lasting and chip resistant.

There are really very few brands in the market that are 5 free and cater to people who are chemically averse. People using cosmetics and polishes need to know in order to a choice suitable to them.
This issue tends to get importance when the risk is unknown for example: how much does it effect an unborn child when the mother uses these chemicals? how much is safe?

These are some of the few questions that plagued me when I was pregnant. I would have felt much at ease using nail polish during those nine months had I known about these 5 free options and got easy access to them.

In India there is virtually no awareness of this concept unless one is a nail geek and reads up a lot of nail and beauty blogs. None of the commercial brands here give the option of using a safer alternative to chemical laden polishes and cosmetics.

Base: Knocked up nails Coral Cutie

This shade is called Coral Cutie, it's a very bright pink-coral shade in glossy creme finish. I am pleasantly surprised to say that it lasted on my nails almost 6-7 days without chipping.
It doesnt have a strong smell either. Most polish tends to chip on me after 3 days of wear.
Quite impressive.

Each polish is 15 ml/0.5oz and retails for $10.

Krizia Caberet Swatch: India's first indie polish

If you've followed me on Insta by now you'd know that India has its first Indie polish. A lovely brand called Krizia (FB page link); of course I couldnt resist and pick up some pretties while some were sent for review. Here's one called Caberet
Base: Krizia Caberet
Stamping plate: BM XL-206 and UCB 3-03
Stamping polish: Konad white and black
Its a pretty tomato red jelly with micro glitter. This below is 2 coats.

This one bleeds a bit. I stamped a lace design using Konad white and applied HK girl top coat and the stamping turned a very orangey-red. Almost translucent. So then I had to stamp again with Konad black. So maybe if you get this one you should topcoat the base and then stamp over it if you are trying a light shade to stamp. While removing too it stained a bit; made my nails slightly pink. This was the only one of the 8 polishes I had a bleeding issue with rest all are fine.
Krizia is a small entrepreneurial start up setting up shop in India. She ships via post/courier. Cremes and shimmers are priced at Rs.200/- while scattered holo glitters are priced at Rs.300/- (yeah wait for it! I said holo!!) She claims her polishes are 3 free but I did find them smelling a bit strong. Of the four I have tried so far they stayed on my nails on an average for 4 days. I am pretty impressed by this brand so far! She has a huge range of shades just as good as any Indian brand. Polishes stay well and the finishes are really good. They dry fast too. Krizia polishes were dry to touch after 5 mins. Though they take around 10-12 minutes to get rock hard. (I leave my first coat to dry for 10 mins).

Cant wait to get my hands on some more shades.

A England Sleeping Palace: Pattern Nail Art and Swatch

I hauled some lovely polishes from A-England from the color4nails.com site during their anniversary sale. First up let me tell you that they are one of the best polishes I have used. Brilliant one coaters most of them and they look like glowing from within. They are super smooth to apply and dry in no time! Show stopper today is: Sleeping palace (link) from the Burne-Jones-Dream Collection

Base: A-England Sleeping Palace
Stamping plate: Pueen 34
Stamping polish: Bells of Ireland from M-Polish (link)
Topped with hkgirl

Also a quick word on this stamping polish. Its pearly light green and it shows up really well on darker bases. I have reviewed around 9 stamping polishes from M-polishes and they have all passed with flying colours. There's a new one called "To and to Holo" and yup..its a holo stamping polish! That is certainly going in my wishlist and I also need some really awesome neon stamping polishes.

Another shot of my mani

And I am leaving this last so you can drool on this swatch all day!

Hav fun!

L'oreal Le Vernis: Midnight Mistress Swirling in Lush Tangerine: Swirls

I hope you've had a good week so far. Mine was so-so..and I have a couple of things I am looking forward to this weekend.
Coming on to today's mani..

"At midnight the mistress swirled her Lush Tangerine drink with a long twirly cocktail stick and raised the glass to her luscious red lips." Errmmm thats how an M&B novel would sound with all these names in it. This is L'oreal's new collection of Le Vernis. If you want to read a review on these click here.
On my nails is: Midnight Mistress (pointer and ring finger) a darkened blue jelly polish that turns black at 2 coats. And Lush tangerine; a bright orange in creme finish. Both are smooth and non streaky.

Stamping plate: BM201
Stamping colours: Konad red and Konad White
Base Colour: L'oreal Le Vernis Midnight Mistress 701 and Lush Tangerine 303

I am pleasantly surprised how well this stamped. Only thing, the red didnt up as bright as I wanted it to show up on the Lush Tangerine, unless you went close. But I like the overall bright pop of colour.

Liked it?

*Polish sent by PR for review. However opinions are my own.

Glitter Glitter on my Nails! Glitter Bomb!

Happy Friendship Day to you allllll!!!
I have got to know a lot of people due to blogging and I am glad to know such nice ppl!
I dont want to get into talking names, coz this post may never end :p
But you all know who you are!! And u've made my life more fun!!
(This incl all tweeps, email spammers, FB followers and comment writers!)
So here's wishing you all a very HAPPY Friendship Day!!!

On my blog today is my first glitter bomb! And a big one at that.
I've always stayed away from glitter due to the painful task of removing them and killing your cuticles in the process (yeah I mean the foil claw method). I am clearly not a fan of that. But after seeing this new frenzy around indie glitter polishes and the bea-u-tiful pics across blogs, I couldnt resist.
Now Indie polishes are real hard to get hold off, so I got around to buying "Cosmic" from Jordana.

Yes! It know it is A LOT of glitter. I wanted to see how it looks/feels etc.

Base: Sandy-Matt Blue polish
Glitter polish: Jordana Cosmic 2 coats

I brought Jordana cosmic from BeautyJoint.
One bottle of 6ml costs around $2.99

Cosmic is packed with micro blue hex glitter and large chunky silver, blue and green hex

After a couple of days I got bored with my flashy nails and tried to add some interest by adding dots of various colours. It ended up looking even more boring. I think.... U?

Psssst: I discovered a way to remove glitter polish without killing your cuticles. Will post that soon.
Wait for it. :D Bwahahahahah!!!!

Floam Swatch +Nail Art

You know how you really "really" want something in your life and sometimes you get it easy and sometimes you get it the hard way. But the hard somethings are to get, the sweeter the victory.
Yes, Floam was one such polish. I usually dont get so senti-"mental" about not having a polish, but since the first time I had seen swatches of this polish, I was like I have to "have" it. :D

One day my friend and an avid blog stalker Dhara asked me if I wanted anything from US as she had contacted Melissa a nail blogger at The Daily Nail Blog (do visit her blog, she is fab at nail art). Melissa works in India but was planning to go on a short visit back home to US. And she generously agreed to get us our fix of polishes. Though I tried to buy this polish from a webshop, it seemed quite unavailable at the moment. I then contacted the maker this awesome polish Amy from "I'm feeling Nail-venturous" (do check out her blog, she has loads of such fab polishes) and she happily agreed to make me some so Melissa could get them home to us. Thank you Amy and Melissa!!!
Postal delivery usually takes ages in my country with most of the times ending up in lost/stolen packages. Enough Rant. Had to get it out of my system.

So presenting: Floam

Floam is neon yellow, blue and green hex matt glitter in a clear base.
Its a little thick to apply but doesnt clump together. Above pic is coats of polish over a base of colorbar exclusive 18.

Dance of Floam in the bottle.

It gives an incredible depth to your nails, almost 3-D.

Base: Floam
Stamping Plate: Konad M83
Stamping Polish: Konad Black

Are you drooling over Floam?
