Revlon holographic pearl vs China Glaze fairy dust

Most of the nail polish addicts in India would readily give a hand or leg or pay obnoxious amounts of shipping to lay hands on some true holo. Out of the blue Revlon has un-announcingly launched their holographic pearl here without much ado. Whilst SA's in store are unaware of what the potential of a holo is they will tell you it's a new "glitter polish" 😂

So here's the first look at india's first holo polish: the common man's version of china glaze fairy dust (or is it really?!)

First up: both polishes are swatched over Sally Hansen black heart
-Both are one coats. Revlon is much thicker and more dense than ChG. A couple more coats and I would have got full coverage with Revlon.
-Revlon sparkles more than ChG. The holo effect is more in Revlon.
-on the other hand the base is not seen enough when using Revlon. ChG just sparkles with a good amount base being seen.
-Revlon is priced at ₹350/- for 8ml vs China glaze ₹500/-(approx) for 15ml on Amazon in US plus international shipping that could cost u an arm or a leg (lol!)
-if you put a few drops of thinner in Revlon maybe you can achieve a fairy dust type effect of sparse sparkling holo.

They are definitely not same but till we get China glaze in India this will have to do. Let me know if you need any more info.

A England Sleeping Palace: Pattern Nail Art and Swatch

I hauled some lovely polishes from A-England from the color4nails.com site during their anniversary sale. First up let me tell you that they are one of the best polishes I have used. Brilliant one coaters most of them and they look like glowing from within. They are super smooth to apply and dry in no time! Show stopper today is: Sleeping palace (link) from the Burne-Jones-Dream Collection

Base: A-England Sleeping Palace
Stamping plate: Pueen 34
Stamping polish: Bells of Ireland from M-Polish (link)
Topped with hkgirl

Also a quick word on this stamping polish. Its pearly light green and it shows up really well on darker bases. I have reviewed around 9 stamping polishes from M-polishes and they have all passed with flying colours. There's a new one called "To and to Holo" and yup..its a holo stamping polish! That is certainly going in my wishlist and I also need some really awesome neon stamping polishes.

Another shot of my mani

And I am leaving this last so you can drool on this swatch all day!

Hav fun!

Stay Quirky review Crazy Good Sand Effect

Another mani with my new SQ polishes

Base: SQ So crazy
Stamping plate: B.Loves Mind blown 03
Stamping polish: Konad black

Crazy Good (link; available on purplle.com) is a shimmery medium turquoise blue shade; with a sand effect finish. I really like this shade and this is something that I was looking forward to when Maybelline had launched their glitter mania line. But that was very few shades and was missing a turquoise in particular. This polish has very fine shimmer and super fine glitter. It can be a bit tough to remove it, so I have used a glue base under this polish.
I applied 2 coats in the pic above. It dries fast..3-4 mins.
Price is Rs.150/- for 8ml (mrp is Rs.200/- and they have some promotions going on).
The brand says its a part of the sand effect line where you can get gritty granular effect.
Started chipping on the tips on the 3rd day.

Here's another post using my new SQ polishes

Base SQ Pink-a-licious
Stamping plate: Uber Chic 3-02
Stamping polish: Snowberry from M-polish (link) Nice pearl white shade!!

Pink-a-licious (link; available on purplle.com) is a dark pink creme shade. It has a nice glossy finish and applies smooth.
I applied 2 coats in the pic above. It dries nicely..say around 5-7 minutes.
Price is Rs.113/- for 6ml (mrp is Rs.150/- and they have some promotions going on)
The brand says its a part of the gel finish line where you can get effect of gel finish without using UV light to cure. Its good at the price of Rs.113/- lasted 2 days on me without chipping.

Stay Quirky Nail Polish Review : Winnie Pooh Nail Art

There's a new brand of polishes in India and they are called Stay Quirky. Of course got me curious to check them and they sent over some polishes for review.

First up is the quirky nail art that I did.
Base: Stay Quirky Sunny side up (link)
Hex nail Vinyl on the ring finger with Sally Hansen Black heart sponged on
Stamping plate: OB-3
Stamping polish Konad black

Heres a plain swatch of the polish!

Initially I wasnt sure of the shade..thought it was a bit too bright on me. Neither golden nor yellow.
But after a bit it grew on me and I quite like it! Its really bright and good to lift up your mood on a dreary rainy day!
It has a nice satin finish..dries decent (say 5-7 mins)
This shade is sheer..what you see above is 3-4 coats and VNL is there.
Price: Rs250/- for 8ml!! its a bit steep if you ask me...but usually the brand has some kind of promotions going on and these are priced between Rs.80-120/- mostly.

They have a wide range of finishes..something that other brands in India need to catch up to. Satin/Leather effect, Sand effect, gel finish, some glitters, usual cremes, pastels etc. I found the jersey effect and the duo chromes to be most interesting. Although this satin finish is also quiet nice and not easily available here in most brands in India.
The brand has listed shade names on the site but there is no name on the bottle, which makes it a bit difficult to remember the shade or finish. Most nail addicts I know can see a shade and recollect the name so that is a tad inconvenient if you ask me to go back to check it online or have to make my own label and stick it on. They have various shades in different sizes like 6ml, 8ml and 11ml. Though that seems odd. Some have shade names mentioned and some dont. The brand has communicated to me that they are working to change this and will get names on the bottles soon. This one in the review is blank, doesn't have anything written on it. So while I am off to make my label, You can check out the other shades here: Link

Have you used this brand yet? Let me know how you like it.

Dreamy metallic swirls

Mostly I use metallics for stamping but this time around I used it as a base and I really liked how smoothly this one goes.

Base: 105 tutti fruity from NewU
Stamping polish: dancing in the streets from M-polish (really nice metallic sheen)
Stamping plate: BP L-003 (purchased by me link)
Top coat SV

Here's a swatch of the base in its own:

Goes smooth and not as streaky as I thought this would be considering its a metallic base.
Most streaks settled down on their own. One coater!! Should stamp well on dark bases.
Might get a few more of these newu metallic polishes. A couple of friends had success doing watermarble with their cremes too. Definitely worth getting at Rs.75/- a bottle.

Rainbow Gradient in Glass Effect

Hello!
This is a new one for me. I tried stain glass colours on a base of silver glitter and the effect looked very nice and shiny. I kept the plain base for a couple of days which is why you can see the edges of the nails have started to show. These colours are very versatile you can thin with using water and also get a nice tint effect and fill in your designs using lead light technique too.

Base: Small silver glitter polish (local unbranded)
Fevicryl Stain glass colours applied using a flat paint brush 2-3 coats
Stamping plate: B.Loves flower power
Stamping polish: Konad white
Topped with hkgirl
